IRS Student Internships

Pre-College IRS Student Internships and Jobs
IRS Student Internships offer a paid summer work experience program for all college students enrolled in a master’s program and majoring in accounting. Interns will work in the company's Large Business and International Division.

During the internship, students will work a full 40-hour week with pay, including overtime pay. The schedule is flexible and gives interns several schedule choices. Interns will be given meaningful work in the area of taxes for corporations whose assets are more than $10 million. To qualify for an internship, students must have and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or above.

Many students have found the internship a great way to prepare for an accounting career at the IRS. All interns will be able to use their coursework and increase their knowledge through a summer internship. Several positions are offered in the areas of tax compliance, tax specialist, tax law and more.

Students may search and apply for positions online. The IRS has a variety of job opportunities for college students age 18 and over pursuing careers  in accounting and finance as well as business, information technology, law enforcement and more.
