Oregon Zoo Internships
Oregon Zoo Internships are offered to college students in the summer, as well as Fall/Winter/Spring terms. The internships are unpaid and offer students hands-on experience in many areas.
Summer internships are available in Research and Conservation (upper division and graduate students), Assist Wild Life Live! program (for undergraduate or graduate level college students with course work in biology or zoology), and Veterinary Externship (for fourth year veterinary students). All applications for internships will be subject to a background check.
Summer internships generally run for 12 weeks with interns working 32 hours per week. Certain requirements may be necessary for some internships, such as experience working with animals, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
To apply, students will need to submit a curriculum vitae application form, letter of recommendation from an academic advisor or sponsor, and a cover letter. The cover letter should explain career goals and how this internship would help the student achieve them, and what areas they are most interested in working during an internship.
The Oregon Zoo, formerly the Washington Park Zoo, is located in Portland, the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon. It first opened in 1888 and is Oregon's largest paid and most popular attraction, with more than 1.6 million visitors in 2011.
The location is usually in OREGON.
