We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineering Intern within the Tiger Innovations team. The position would be located in Herndon, VA. The Tiger Innovations team provides innovative, cutting-edge, security solutions for the United States Government. Our employees provide a multi-disciplinary, sometimes non-traditional, approach to generate innovative solutions to incredibly challenging technical problems in the national security arena. Our areas of expertise are in spacecraft payload and system development (especially in the confines of implementing very large amounts of functionality in extremely small, power-constrained environments); unique system development; ground control and operational software development; embedded software development; and unique cyber capabilities. Key customers include the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. This position is available for undergraduate or graduate students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional field. The Software Engineering Intern will work under the direction of senior level engineers. Taskings may include communication protocol implementation, embedded control applications, GUI development, embedded firmware development, spacecraft lab testing, integration and environmental testing, and test software development. This is a fantastic opportunity for a software/CS/computer engineering student to get involved in multiple facets of small spacecraft development, production, and operation. You will work with a cross-disciplinary team of software, hardware, mechanical, and system engineers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Under limited supervision, working on both basic and advanced engineering projects with general instruction. - Participates in the day to day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of engineering tasks. - Applies knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve technical problems. - Finding new or replacement methods/algorithms for meeting necessary functional and performance specs for an assembly or development project. - Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams and charts. - Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. - Performs other duties as assigned or required.
